Pets

We are very happy to welcome guests with up to two well behaved dogs.  The house is kept in a clean condition so it is important that you ensure your pet is not allowed on the furniture, is not left in the property on its own (unless left in a dog crate), and the garden is kept clean and undamaged.

We recommend that you bring plenty of your pets bedding & towels with you together with food & water bowls, some favourite toys and poop bags.

Vet

We can recommend the vet in Meyssac for your dog’s tapeworm treatment, we have always found them to be very friendly and helpful.  Just pop in at the start of your holiday to make an appointment for a day or two before you go back to the UK.

Address; SELARL de Vétérinaires Constant - Léculeur, Le Bois du Peuch, 19500 Meyssac. Opening times; Mon-Fri 08:30-12:00 & 14:00-19:00, Sat 09:00 - 12:00.

Pet Travel Scheme

With a little planning it is really easy to bring your dog on holiday to France from the UK.  Your local vet will be able to provide you with all the information you require and if it is the first time that you have taken your pet to the EU we recommend that you contact them at least a month before you go. All pets need to be microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant15 digit pet microchip.

Next step is a Rabies vaccination. If this is your pet's first vaccination after microchipping, it will need to wait for 21 days before travelling. There is no waiting period after boosters as long as: the previous vaccination was administered after a microchip was implanted and the previous vaccination had not expired when the booster was given. Lastly you need to visit your vet not more than 10 days before your arrival date in the EU and obtain an Animal Health Certificate.

Before your dog can return to the United Kingdom, it must be treated against certain tapeworms by a licensed veterinarian in France.  The treatment must be administered more than 24 but less than 120 hours before scheduled arrival time in the UK.  The vet must validate the tapeworm treatment with an official veterinary stamp and signature.  The entry must also include the date and time of administration.
